The Karnataka Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Rules, 1961 (Amendment in Fixed Term Employment of a Workman)
Government of Karnataka vide its notification No.LD 382 LET 2018 dated 28-11-2019, published on 30-06-2020 has amended The Karnataka Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Rules, 1961 to incorporate Para 7 mentioned as "Fixed-Term Employment Workman" of Clause 2(a) under Schedule-1.
This has been referred as Model Standing orders which defines "Fixed-Term Workman' engaged on the basis of a written contract of employment for a fixed period with conditions that facilities such as hours of work, wages, allowances and other statutory benefits shall not be lesser than the facilities for the permanent workman.
This further defines that "Fixed-Term Workman', will be eligible for all statutory benefits available to a permanent workman proportionately according to the period of services rendered by him.
The notification also inserted the termination clause of a "fixed-term employment workman" under the Model Standing Order.
